Jihan ªah Garagoýunly 


Jihan ªah ascended to the throne in 1436 and became the sovereign of Kirman with the conquest of Baghdad, Soltaniye, Kazwin and Isfahan. The state became very powerful.

The Garagoýunly ruler, Jihan ªah, was captured and killed in 1467 after his defeat in the war against Uzyn Hasan. After this incident the Garagoýunly State collapsed.

After Jihan ªah, the Garagoýunly state was unsuccessful in resettling its power back again and under the leadership of Abdullah a great number of people withdrew to Khorasan and India.

The most famous of the Akgoýunly Rulers was Gara Osman’s son, Uzyn Hasan. Uzyn Hasan recaptured Diyarbakir in 1453. In 1457, he defeated Jihan ªah, who was the ruler of the Garagoýunly people. Later the Akgoýunlys added Khorasan, Bagdat, ªiraz and Isfahan to the territory under their rule.
