Türkmenistan
has its own Citizenship Law. Citizenship can be acquired, retained and
fortified in accordance with the law.
A
citizen of Türkmenistan may not be turned over to another state or
deported from Türkmenistan and deprived of his right to turn his
motherland.
Citizens
of Türkmenistan are guaranteed the protection and patronage of the
state, both in the territory of Türkmenistan and beyond its borders.
Foreign
citizens and/or stateless persons enjoy the rights and freedoms of
citizens of Türkmenistan unless otherwise prescribed by law.
The
Türkmenistan state grants the right of asylum to foreign citizens
persecuted in their countries for political, national or religious
convictions.
Property
is inviolable in Türkmenistan. Türkmenistan confirms the right of
private ownership of the means of production, land and other material
and intellectual assets. These may likewise belong to individuals,
corporate bodies and the state. The state guarantees equal protection
and equal conditions for the development of all types and forms of
property.
The
state guarantees the freedom of belief and worship for all religions and
their equality before the law. Religious organizations are separate from
the state and are not permitted to interfere in state affairs. The state
educational system is separated from religious organizations and is of a
secular nature.
